Adding Interesting Jewelry Pieces to My Collection

A few years ago, I started collecting jewelry, and it has been really fun to watch my little collection grow. I started with a piece that my grandmother gave me, and then gradually began adding a thing here or there as I came across interesting items at thrift stores. It has been so amazing to wear different pieces that have so much history, and I absolutely love the stories behind each item that I have. This blog is all about adding interesting pieces of jewelry that will really help your look to stand out, and taking care of the items that are precious to you.

4 Unusual Wedding Ring Trends

There is a lot of tradition that surrounds getting married. It can feel stifling at times, but more and more people are deciding to make traditions their own by putting a twist on the conventional. If you are in the market for a wedding ring, take a look at these four wedding ring trends that are a new take on the traditional.

1. Wear It on a Different Finger

Wearing a wedding ring on your "ring finger" is a tradition that some people are choosing to leave behind. Some brides and grooms prefer to wear it on a thumb or pinky finger. You might like the way that a wedding ring looks on a different finger. Some people chose to wear their wedding ring on their right hand instead of the left. Whatever feels most comfortable to you is the best choice.

2. Wear It as a Necklace

Some people have taken the ring off their fingers completely and have opted to wear a ring on a chain around their neck instead. There are a few practical reasons for this decision: maybe you use your hands a lot for baking, sculpting, or constructing, and you are worried about losing the ring. Another practical reason to wear your ring on your neck is fluctuating weight. If you lose or gain a significant amount of weight, you will have to have your ring resized, but, stick it on a chain, and it always fits. Aside from practical reasons, some people prefer the look of a necklace or are uncomfortable wearing a ring. A wedding ring on a chain is perfect if one of these circumstances applies to you.

3. Pass Up on the Diamond

Some couples are choosing to forgo the traditional diamond on their wedding ring and opting for other precious stones. Some people want a little more color and feel like a diamond just doesn't match their personality. Ruby, opal, turquoise, emerald, or even pearls are popular alternatives for wedding rings, and you can find many options at a wedding ring store.

4. Use Gems on the Groom's Ring

Some couples are adding bling to the groom's wedding ring (which is traditionally a plain gold or silver band). Small diamonds or other stones inlaid in the band can add a touch of beauty and personality to a wedding ring. Some grooms even take it a step further and go for big stone centerpieces. Why should brides have all the fun, right?
